The Snake, The Bird, and the Jackal - Triptych

$250.00

The Snake, The Bird, and the Jackal; Three new hand screened relics from Iliumpta out now in limited quantities.

Iliumpta is a concept show that places the heroic deeds from the Iliad in the American South, where we can explore how misguided they might be.  These vases work as relics from this land, showing what parables those of Iliumpta had guiding them.

  1. The Snake vase tells of a group setting out to hunt the Medusa, only to be decimated due to the  off-putting manners that drove their night.  Inscribed with Evinrude as a pun based on the hunters’ manners and the outboard engine that powered their craft.

  2. The Bird vase tells the story of Icarus.  Inscribed with Daytona as an ode to a Southern hero who flew too high.

  3. The Jackal vase tells the story of Orpheus, who lost his partner twice due to being unable to trust them in those quiet moments.  Inscribed with Hank as an ode to the country singing lovesick wandering yodeler.

18x24” Hand silkscreened prints.  Numbered and signed.
